Step-by-step linocut print

Here's a step-by-step guide on making a simple linocut print.



First I rolled the ink with an ink roller on a sheet of glass.



Then I rolled the ink over the surface of the lino sheet.



The paper is then laid on top of the lino sheet and burnished with a baren (or a wooden spoon in this case).



The print is then peeled slowly.



And finally here's the finished print!

Godzilla and Joystick sketches

Here are some very quick and rough sketches of Godzilla and an Atari joystick which I will be working on as linocut or woodblock prints.

More monotype prints

Printed these at the printmaking studio in the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts last evening.

I've always enjoyed working with basic techniques such as this and playing around with them without the pressure to create anything to sell. For this session, I used mainly just scraps of paper and cardboards to make the plates. I also limited myself to the three basic colors for printing.

The Little Classic Sneakers Coloring Book

Sometimes there are certain projects you wanted to do but could never find the time. Then one day you decided you could not procrastinate any longer, so you stayed up and got it done even if it means sacrificing your sleep.

This is a new mini coloring book in an accordion fold-out format containing 12 hand-drawn classic sneakers for coloring. This little book measures a tiny 1-1/8 by 7/8 inch, just like my Tiny Zodiac Monsters Coloring Book.

Fun with monotyping

I spent an enjoyable evening making monotype prints at The Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts today. For those who wonder what monotyping is all about, it is the most basic form of printmaking whereby a drawing is made on a smooth, non-absorbent surface. The image is then transfered onto a sheet of paper by pressing the two together, usually using a printing press.

Coming group show in Montreal, Canada

I'll be taking part in an art group show "Prints Are People Too!" at Headquarters Galerie + Boutique in Montreal, Canada in March 2009.
